I've seen my share of untimely pigeon deaths on the city streets, but
never has the thought of putting one one my head crossed my mind.
Subway vermin beware! A new rather macabre hair trend has roadkill
rising from the dead. Designer Reid Peppard has created RP/Encore, a line of
taxidermied hair accessories which she assures are only the result of
roadkill, pest control, and natural death.
Her creations include hair
pieces like the Pigeon Wing Hair Comb decked out in Swarovski crystals
and semi-precious stones. The Double Large Rat Headpiece is, yes, you
guessed it - two large rats, one bearing the gift of a tiny skull.
But
Reid doesn't stop with hair accessories. Now my mind flashes back
to my best friend's pet hamster, Tabby. The walks in the park, watching
her stuff food into her little cheeks - and then Alfred Hitchock-esque
music rings in my head as I look at Reid's less than heart-warming, more
hair-raising Large White Rat Coin Purse!
However creepy, you can't deny
these accessories are indeed eye-catching and imaginative. Her
collection even extends to jewelry. With Halloween just days away,
these fuzzy fiends may just get to strut their stuff in style atop the
coiffs of other undead. Who knew life after roadkill could be so
glamorous?
