After my second class of Core Fusion, I finally met with my Nutrition + Wellness Coach, Cathrine Hesse at the Central Park South location. Her role is to help me with my challenge and achieve that mind-body connection that Exhale is all about.
At first I thought it was going to be a general nutrition session asking me about what I eat, my goals and what I have to start eating now. While my session was about that, it was also about being reflective in all aspects of my life.
After meandering through the zen-inspiring halls of the Exhale space, we ended up in a private room that smelled aroma-therapeutic complete with pillows and a bar for private training sessions. I felt completely transported to somewhere Temple-esque and somewhere fresh in my mind.
I filled out a health history form to discuss concerns and goals with Catherine, got weighed and measured (can't wait to post final results), and then so much more happened. I was able to talk about all the various parts of my life that make up me.
I talked about my fear of sports, about how I was always "athletically challenged" growing up, and how I am finally in a place to tackle that part of me. Catherine listened to me and motivated me to take this physical part of my challenge as completing all the other positive aspects of my life.
We also discussed my eating/drinking habits. I'm working on staying hydrated and making a conscious effort to drink more water throughout the day. I also told Catherine how I tend to eat a lot of frozen food due to the convenience. She told me to just get more frozen veggies and incorporate those into my meals, so I can still eat quick, but up my veggie/vitamin intake.
After I left I felt so touched and uplifted. I had such a positive surge of energy that permeated throughout my mind and how I felt about other aspects of my life. I felt motivated towards my relationships, my work and so much more in life.
I really feel the people at
Exhale are there to truly help you achieve so much more than just a slimmer waistline or toned muscles. You're able to focus yourself so much on, well, yourself! It's such a great feeling to forget the stress, worries and things of everyday life for a moment.
I'm looking forward to receiving the healthy recipes from Catherine, and I can't wait to take one of her yoga classes and meet again next week.
