A Cool Aussie Hair Line Coming Soon to a Salon Near You

Since its beginning as a line of ammonia-free color created by a Sydney hair stylist, Original & Mineral has expanded its offerings to haircare, styling products and over 100 shades of permanent and demi-permanent salon color - all available exclusively in Australia and New Zealand, until now.

The brand has its sights set on a stateside expansion this year, and you can bet you’ll be seeing a lot more of its natural ingredient-infused formulas in 2012. For now, O&M’s products like Maintain the Mane Shampoo and Conditioner (a mild, everyday cleansing duo in cool flip-top bottles), Original Queenie Firm Hold Hairspray (“the best” for fixing styles, according to Creative Director Janelle Chaplin) and Frizzy Logic, an argan and primrose oil-based shine serum with an intoxicatingly tropical scent, are in heavy rotation at Armando Corral Salon in NYC’s Meatpacking District.

The salon also employs O&M’s Clean Color Technology, which subs harsh ingredients like ammonia and parabens for native plant extracts from Australia. I had a chance to try the Liquid CCT demi-permanent color, and can confirm it imparts hair with a rich hue and major shine, all with zero toxic-smelling odor. Pretty unbelievable stuff.
