No-Poo Goes Mass with the L'Oréal EverCrème Cleansing Conditioner
L'Oréal recently launched their newest addition to the EverCrème collection: EverCrème Cleansing Conditioner. For a sulfate-free line, it only makes sense to have a non-lathering shampoo and conditioner hybrid. Plus, it's the first "no-poo" product to hit mass market shelves. "You can use it everyday, and you use it as you would a shampoo and conditioner - just in one step," explains L'Oréal Paris Consulting Hair Expert Johnny Lavoy. "This is going to do your cleansing and conditioning at the same time."
While some only use shampoo at the roots and conditioner on the ends, you want to use this product from root to tip. "I massage it in to give that exfoliation to the scalp to help lift dirt, and then I work it towards the ends," Johhny says. "You're not going to get that lather, so don't rough up your hair, becasue it roughs up the cuticle and damages the hair from the friction. This product also plays a part in less friction, so it's going to keep the integrity of the hair more healthy."
Unlike foaming shampoos, this detergent-free option does not strip hair of naturally hydrating oils, and the wax-free formula won't leave a residue. It's great for dry, damaged hair, and it also preserves hair color, since it doesn't aggravate the cuticle. It's perfect for African Americans who don't relax their hair and pretty much anyone with tight curls. It's also a hydrating option for someone with over-processed and dried out hair. For finer hair types, Johnny recommends it as an alternative to regular shampoo during the winter when the air is dryer.
You can find L'Oréal EverCrème Cleaninsing Conditioner ($6.99) at drugstores nationwide. Are you going to try a non-foaming shampoo? Or do you need that lather to feel clean?
