Get the Look: January Jones’ Side of Sculptural Waves

Red carpet hair tends to fall on the safe side of the beauty spectrum, and if you’re as sick of the phrase “Old Hollywood-inspired” as we are, you’ll appreciate the look January Jones wore to the L.A. premiere of Last Man on Earth last night. The updo, which came with a generous helping of waves on the side, was like nothing we’ve seen lately on a famous person — and after the epic red carpet season we’ve had (Globes and Grammys and Oscars, oh my!), that’s saying something. Hair stylist Bridget Brager, who created the look, says ”Our inspiration was clean, modern, soft structure." Here’s exactly how she pulled it off.

    Glossing Cream

“Next I created a deep side part and also parted her hair from just behind the ear to meet the deep side part at the crown of her head. I clipped the top left and side section away. I then gathered the rest of her hair into a sleek bun just below the crown of her head using Oscar Blandi Pronto Instant Glossing Cream to smooth out flyaways and give a clean sleek look. I used hair pins to hold the bun in place.”

    Curling Iron

“With the remaining hair, I created pin curls by setting 3/4 inch sections of hair with a 3/4 inch curling iron. Once the set hair was cool, I brushed the hair down and toward her face and created a deep smooth wave effect.”
    $40
