Try It This Weekend: Kate Bosworth’s Dreamy Braid

By Klaudia Tirico / July 18, 2014

Kate Bosworth is a beauty chameleon. It’s one of the things we love most about her. Her ability to effortlessly pull off practically any look is inspirational. One minute she’s rocking a sexy leather dress, sleek high pony and red lips; the next minute she’s dressed in a romantic frock paired with minimal makeup and the dreamiest braid we’ve ever seen. She just kills it every single time.

Bosworth attended the launch of her new fashion app Style Thief in a beautiful RED Valentino dress and, you guessed it, the dreamiest braid we’ve ever seen. The plaited ‘do, courtesy of hairstylist Bridget Brager, is a beautiful halo that can work with almost any hair length. Brager gives us a step-by-step on how to recreate the look at home.

Step 1: I started by giving her hair a good douse of PHYTO Phytovolume Actif Volumizing Spray, roots to ends, said Brager. “To set in texture and add thickness, I blew her hair dry using my hands, really concentrating on lifting the hair away from the scalp and up off of her head, especially around the hairline.”

Step 2: “Next, I created a disheveled deep part. Starting at the crown, along the part, I began braiding forward so the braid would fall towards her forehead concealing her hair line, which is what gave way to a soft romantic feel. Then I started a second and third braid at her temples, braiding back on each side.”

Step 3: “Using Kevin Murphy Easy.Rider to tame fly aways and add a bit of shine, I loosened the braids to make them billowy and voluminous. To get the detail in the back, I wove the braids together and pinned them low to give a halo effect.”

Step 4: “To finish, I sprayed a light coat of L’Oreal Elnett Hairspray and allowed any bits to fall as they may - and she was set!"
