Pared Down and Polished at Peter Som - Fall 2012

"I looked at the collection and there's no frou frou. It's very pared down, extremely graphic and it fells very pure," said lead hair stylist Eugene Souleiman for Wella. That translated to the hair and makeup as well.
Eugene wanted the hair to feel structured, but to keep it feeling not too finished. He used hairspray (and a lot of it!) to slick back the front. He used hairspray, netting and a diffuser to ensure the hair was completely smooth and free of flyaways. To create the flowing texture in the back, the hair was sprayed with Ocean Spritz Texture Spray and twisted into a bun and set with heat. The hair was let out right before the show and back combed for added texture.
The minimalist look translated to clean skin and a bold brow for the makeup look created by Tom Pecheux for MAC. The standout brows were accented with a "sideburn" contour that was created with a violet mineralized powder.
This season Peter Som's design team collaborated with Zoya to create a custom trio of nail shades named after Peter's muses: Audrey, Evvie and Katherine. "We looked at color swatches, talked about texture, opacity, finish and we settled on doing three colors, because we wanted to give him flexibility when choosing a color for the show," said Rebecca Isa, Zoya Color Expert. Audrey is a soft peachy pink that glows on the nails and was used as the manicure for the show. The smoky green shade, Evvie, was polished on the toes. Katherine wasn't used for the show, but the eggplant shade is unique in that it's a jelly formulation. It comes out sheer, so one coat gives you a nice wash of color. If you build it up to three coats, you get the rich shade you see in the bottle. The boxed set is available for limited time on zoya.com.
