Spring 2014 Microtrend: Wigging Out
Spring 2014 has the perfect remedy for a bad hair day: wigs and weaves! Do you dare to channel someone new next season by rocking a completely different hair 'do?
At Carmen Marc Valvo, Ted Gibson took the designer's "techno-tribal" inspiration and created dip-dyed bobs for the models. "I thought these graduated bobs were the perfect complement to the clothes - we’re constantly doing them in my salons!" said Ted. "I wanted to take the trend of dip dye or ombre and the bob and take them to the extreme to make them fun and youthful. We knew that the best way to make this strong statement with the hair was to create them with wigs!"
Meanwhile, at Sally LaPointe, it was all about a long, straight 'do. Pantene celebrity hairstylist Danilo created a series of Gothic looks punctuated by lighter hair colors. Models wore different color wigs, from black and brown to Barbie blonde, all styled with Pantene's new KeraGloss Oil Mist for shine. "If you're wearing a wig, you might as well put a leave-in conditioner in your hair. You can have a treatment while your hair is tucked away," Danilo told us.
Don't think you can pull off a wig? No worries! Go the Jason Wu route and add some extensions to your ponytail for mega-length. Even gals with the shortest of bobs can pull off a long pony.
Would you ever wear a wig for fun?
