Meet Fall’s Must-Have Hair Accessory: The Micro-Braid
Hair accessories can be fun and cheeky on the right person, but I always feel like Shoshanna from Girls when I try to wear a headband or barrette or scrunchie or whatever. I tend to look like the definition of “trying too hard.”
That’s why I love the idea of creating a detail using your own hair as an “accessory,” like hairstylist Guido Palau did at Valentino’s Paris runway show this week. The Redken Creative Consultant spiced up the “classic, feminine, romantic” look with two micro-braids connected in the back of the head. “I took two small pieces of hair from underneath the head on each side of the face and pulled them back into two little braids using Redken’s Braid Aid 03 to add grip and texture to hold the braids in place because they’re tiny, teeny braids,” Guido explained.
The mini-braids add just enough interest to an otherwise pretty basic hairstyle, but without the whole, “Look! I’m wearing a hair accessory!” vibe. I’m adding this one to my to-do list.
