One White House Dinner, 3 Glowing Beauty Looks
The hottest ticket this past weekend was the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner on Saturday night. Celebrities flooded the grounds dressed to the nines to show their support for the Association’s scholarship programs and to honor the nominees and recipients of the WHCA’s Journalism Awards. The makeup, of course, was so on point, leaving us with plenty of inspiration for our own fancy events. It was all about glowing skin and a sexy lip, as seen on Chrissy Teigen, Jenna Dewan-Tatum and Hannah Davis. Here’s how their makeup artists created these glamorous looks.
Chrissy Teigen proved to us that a dark berry lip is A-OK for the spring and summer. ”Chrissy's look was all about gorgeous skin with a bold lip,” said makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic. To get that glowing, bronzed skin, he applied Armani Luminous Silk Foundation ($66) with a Beautyblender sponge ($19.95). The key here was to “only set the T-zone area with a bit of powder to keep the skin looking dewy.” He followed with Guerlain Terra Cotta Bronzer ($53) and highlighted the cheekbones with Kevyn Aucoin The Celestial Powder in Candlelight ($44).
The lip color Dedivanovic used actually has a matte finish, but Teigen’s pout had a nice dose of shine to avoid looking too flat. He started by applying Sigma Beauty Lip Concealer ($15) and painted the lip with Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Sad Girl ($20). Then, he used Anastasia Beverly Hills Lipgloss in Venom ($16) in the center of the pout for a nice glaze.
"I wanted to keep Hannah's look very fresh and glowy,” said makeup artist Vincent Oquendo. "I imagined what a modern Audrey Hepburn would look like and I used that as my inspiration. Bronzed, chic, fresh and sophisticated." To get Davis’ glow, he prepped the skin with Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Self Foaming Mask ($85). “It is a resurfacing mask that is like a facial in a box. It takes off all the dead skin in minutes and enhances the glow from under the makeup.”
For the face, Oquendo opted for a sheer finish foundation, NARS Sheer Glow Foundation ($44), with NARS Creamy Radiant Concealer ($28) under the eyes. “Next I used Charlotte Tilbury Film Star Bronze and Glow ($68) on the cheeks and brow bone. I used the darker bronze color under her cheekbones and the lighter color on her cheek plane and brow bone to highlight and sculpt,” he said. “Then I finished off the cheeks with Chanel Powder Blush in Jersey ($45) on the apples of her cheeks to add a subtle flush under her bronzed glow.”
Davis’ pout was prepped with the Bite Agave Lip Mask ($26). He followed by lining and filling in the entire lip with Laura Mercier Lip Liner in Natural ($23), then topped it off with Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Tinted Lip Balm in Blush ($21).
Makeup artist Patrick Ta says that Jenna Dewan-Tatum loves a bold lip. We were shocked to hear that her lip color is actually a true red since it photographed more as a hot pink. “I applied Kevyn Aucoin The Flesh Tone Lip Pencil in Cerise ($25) to create the perfect lip shape and then applied Melt Cosmetics Matte Red Lipstick in Belladonna 2 ($19),” said Ta.
