Braids haven’t made a big statement on the runways this season, so we’ve been getting our fix from the ladies of the front row. We already dubbed Nicole Richie’s little sister, Sofia, as the braid queen of NYFW, and now Allison Williams is here to take runner up. In the wrong hands, her half up, half down fishtail braid could have veered into elementary school territory, but the details here make the overall look super modern and stylish.

Hairstylist Rebekah Forecast worked with Williams to create this pretty style for the Michael Kors Fall 2015 show, relying on the outfit for inspiration. Allison has a strong sense of personal style so she always has great ideas for beauty looks,” said Forecast. “We drew inspiration from her outfit and based on the proportions, we knew we wanted to keep the hair back."

Here’s a quick step-by-step to get the look at home:

Step 1: “Beginning with clean, towel dried hair, I applied Kerastase Resistance Mousse Volumifique from the mid shaft to the ends of the hair and Serge Normant Meta Lush Volumizer to the roots.”

Step 2: “Next I blow dried the hair straight and created a center part.  I also used a flat iron to remove any waves and applied a bit of Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray.”

Step 3: “I pulled the hair back into two sections from mid-ear to just under the crown and plaited the sections creating a fishtail braid. I ran through the back with a flat iron again to keep the look as sleek as possible.”

Step 4: “To cover the elastic and to add a sweet (but not too sweet) touch, I tied a leather bow to the end of the braid.  I finished with Shu Uemura Art of Hair Essence Absolue on the ends for shine."
