Apple Beauty Blitz
We've heard of apple notes in fragrances, but never quite like this. For an upcoming exhibition, a collaborative artists' group has commissioned a fragrance that captures "the scent of an Apple product being opened for the first time." What's it smell like? According to the perfumer's blog, "The scent features the smell of the plastic wrap covering the box, printed ink on the cardboard, the smell of paper and plastic components within the box and of course the aluminum laptop which has come straight from the factory where it was assembled in China."

Chin-Plants Beauty Blitz
Chin augmentation is the fastest growing cosmetic procedure, says the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, who released 2011 statistics this month. With a 70 percent increase last year, chin implant procedures grew more than boob jobs, Botox and liposuction combined. The reason? Video chats are making people more self-conscious about their double chins, experts claim.

Designer Makeup Beauty Blitz
Earlier this year, we predicted that 2012 would see more fashion designers get into the beauty game. Now it’s happening: Vera Wang recently launched a 74-piece Simply Vera cosmetics line at Kohl’s. Marc Jacobs is working on a makeup line with Sephora. And a new Calvin Klein-branded CK One Color Cosmetics line is hitting beauty counters in limited U.S. distribution now.

Left Beauty Blitz
The left side of your face is probably your "good side," according to a new study published by Wake Forest University researchers. Test subjects presented with photos of faces shown from different angles consistently rated the left side as more "pleasant." "Our results suggest that posers' left cheeks tend to exhibit a greater intensity of emotion, which observers find more aesthetically pleasing," the research team said in a statement.

Maternity Polish Beauty Blitz
We’ve heard of maternity leave, maternity pillows and even maternity Spanx, so how have we missed out on maternity nail polish until now? Fashionista recently interviewed the founder of Knocked Up Nails, a collection of lacquers with formulas safe for moms-to-be and their babies. The best part? The shade names, which include O-Blue-GYN, Preggers in Pink and One Glass a Week (a cabernet-colored polish).

Coco Rocha is not happy with Elle Brazil. The model took to her Tumblr recently when she learned that the magazine Photoshopped her cover to make it appear as if she were showing more skin than she actually was, in violation of her no-nudity policy (and contract). "I strongly believe every model has a right to set rules for how she is portrayed and for me these rules were clearly circumvented," Coco wrote.
