Beauty Dictionary: Dusting

Our series on industry lingo lets you expand your beauty vocabulary.
Dusting
[duhs-ting]
1. A light application: a dusting of powder.
2. A haircut for the change-averse.
Next time you want to lose your split ends but not your length, forget trying to express yourself in inches (millimeters?), and ask your stylist for a “dusting” instead. Hairdressers use this term to describe a minimal haircut that’s more maintenance than it is makeover. In fact, the pieces of hair trimmed are so tiny that they look like dust on the floor rather than strands. And just like the dusting you do to your coffee table, this little lift makes your whole look fresher and cleaner.
