Caudalie's Beauty Elixir Gets a Designer Makeover

By Klaudia Tirico / October 17, 2013

Products that are rich in history and do their job are a dime a dozen. That's why when we find one, we make sure to always restock!

Caudalie's Beauty Elixir is just one of those products. The recipe dates back to the 17th century, when Queen Isabella of Hungary caught the eyes of the King of Poland with her glowing complexion. (He was 35 years younger!) When dermatologist Doctor Hertzog found the recipe for this beauty elixir, he shared his discovery with Caudalie's Mathilde Thomas who helped him rework the original formula and update it for the times. The rest is history!

The Beauty Elixir was born in 1996 and immediately became a cult product among celebrities, models and beauty professionals. The part serum and part toner in a spray is made up of 99.4% natural ingredients (benzoin, rosemary essential oil, orange blossom, rose and grape pulp) that tighten pores, smooth features and set makeup with a single spritz.

Although the cocktail won't ever change (atleast we hope not!), Mathilde enlisted American designer L'Wren Scott to give the bottle a limited edition makeover. Lucky for Mathilde, the designer is a huge fan of the Elixir and didn't need any convincing. The result is a "refined and feminine" pattern with a glossy black finish that will up the ante on your vanity.

The limited edition L'Wren Scott designed Beauty Elixir is now available at Caudalie boutiques, online at Caudalie.com and the Caudalie Vinotherapie Spa at the Plaza Hotel in NYC. It is avalable in two sizes: 30mL ($18) and 100mL ($49).
