Chanel Proves Neon Makeup Isn’t Just for Spring
By Klaudia Tirico / March 5, 2014
How should a girl go food shopping these days? Well, according to Karl Lagerfeld, she should sport an all-Chanel ensemble (obviously) with sneakers, rock neon eyeliner with metallic eyeshadow, and sport a cool, multi-colored, tweed dreadlock ponytail. We’d wear it all if it meant shopping for groceries stamped with interlocking Cs at our local supermarket everyday.
Sigh. If only.
If you haven’t already guessed, we’re pretty obsessed with the supermarket theme at Chanel’s Fall 2014 Ready to Wear show. But it wasn’t until we saw a closeup of the makeup created by Peter Phillips that we really got excited. We love the idea of bright hues for fall. It just makes the cold weather a bit more bearable. Plus, the fact that neon isn’t going anywhere makes us really happy.
Phillips covered the entire eyelid with an icy, metallic silver eyeshadow (Chanel Illusion D'Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Fantasme), then created a neon cat-eye using “flat tints” of pink, green and orange. Some models got a dark red wing, too. For the cheeks, he used Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush in Canaille (from the new spring 2014 collection, out in April), while lips got a coat of Rouge Coco Hydrating Crème Lip Colour in Chéri.
The look may have been for fall 2014, but considering the color palette, we’re stoked to try it once the warmer weather arrives. Who’s with us?
