Escape to Paradise with Escada's Latest Limited-Edition Scent

By Klaudia Tirico / January 28, 2014

It's the coldest day of the week and I'm sitting at my desk day dreaming about my trip to Puerto Rico with Escada last week. I spent three days soaking up the sun with my fellow beauty writers, sipping on piña coladas and eating a lot of arroz con pollo (and french fries, because I love them). I know, I have the best job ever.

My view of the beach in Puerto Rico. Swoon!

Now that I'm back and freezing my tushy off, the only thing that's keeping me sane is Escada's mouth-watering new scent, Born in Paradise. Every whiff of the coconut milk, pineapple, green apple and watermelon elixir brings me back to Puerto Rico's soft beaches and colorful architecture. The scent is paradise in a bottle, and I plan on wearing it from now until the bottle runs out. Clearly, I don't follow any summer/winter fragrance rules.

If the notes remind you of a fruity cocktail, you're on the right path. Born in Paradise was inspired by the piña colada, a drink that is said to have originated in Puerto Rico. We had dinner at Barrachina restaurant, which claims to be the birthplace of the drink — though some experts, such as the Master Blender at the Bacardi Distillery, which we also visited, disagree. Who cares, though, when the drinks are so crazy good?

Much like last year's limited-edition summer fragrance, Cherry in the Air, Born in Paradise is housed in the iconic Escada bottle shape and features packaging designed by a talented artist. This year, the brand teamed up with New Zealand-born fashion photographer and illustrator Kelly Thompson. Using her signature style, Thompson created a depiction of the Escada girl in a tropical oasis. Wherever this girl is, I want to be there at all times.

If you're stuck in a winter rut and need some pep in your step, get your freezing tushy out from under all those blankets and treat your senses to Born in Paradise. I guarantee it will warm you up until the temperatures rise.

Escada Born in Paradise ($75) is available at Macy's now.
