Buy Now: Formula X Press Pods Make Single-Use Nail Polish a Thing
By Klaudia Tirico / April 18, 2014
Nail polish has come a long way since its early days during the Ming Dynasty, when royals wore red and black nail color made from beeswax, egg whites, gelatin, vegetable dyes and gum arabic. From 3-free and 5-free formulas to crackle top coats and matte finishes, we didn’t think there could possibly be a new nail color product that would surprise us. Everything has been done, right? Not if Formula X has anything to say about it.
The Sephora-exclusive nail polish brand is not even a year old yet, but they’ve been the frontrunner of nail polish innovation from day one. Think intense color payoff and unique, 3-free formulas with long-wear and high-endurance finishes. Not to mention they launched their brand with a whopping 200 SKUs. This summer, Formula X is introducing us to yet another, never-before-seen innovation: Press Pods, tiny, single-use pods of their best-selling shades that let you paint your tips wherever you please (without having to take a full glass bottle of polish with you).
The Press Pods come in a box of 24 shades – including creams, metallics and glitters – for $39. Each pod houses more than enough nail polish for two coats on all 10 nails. Although the pods initially struck us as way too small to fit that much polish, our road test proved us wrong. It also may come as a surprise to find that each pod houses with a built-in brush, but it does. All you have to do it twist and pop the cap open, squeeze the pod until lacquer comes dripping out, and paint. See how it works in the video below.
