Rockabilly Eighties at Kate Spade Spring 2013
By Kaitlyn Dreyling / September 7, 2012
There was an explosion of color at Kate Spade's Spring 2013 collection. Neil Scibelli for Jouer Cosmetics created an Eighties rocker look with vibrant blue lids and Pepto cheeks. "Brad [Goreski] and Deborah [Lloyd] really wanted to bring out these Eighties-inspired colors," he said. "So we're doing mint greens and electric blues on the lid, super winged out and really fun. Kind of dramatic eyes inspired by this rockabilly chic look."
The hair complemented Kate Spade's retro styling with a bouncy pony and voluminous roll. "We are using Garnier Fructis root lifter to build the foundation, and then we're using the 5-in-1 serum which is giving us that nice shiny look," said lead stylist Tommy Buckett for Garnier Fructis.
Deborah Lippmann created the polka dotted nail design from last season, so we were excited to see the print she created for the Spring 2013 collection. "The nails are really, really fun," Deborah said. All the models had Amazing Grace, an opaque white, as a base, and then some were accented with colorful gingham designs based on what colors were in each girl's outfit. We loved the complementing orange nail shown above, but we're thinking of trying out the mint green shade next season.
