Backstage at Suno, Odile Gilbert described the style she created as a “knotty chignon on the side,” meant to look like a hairstyle a young woman would do on herself. “We don’t want it perfect,” she explained. To add texture, Odile prepped hair with Kérastase Mousse Substantive and Kérastase Lotion Densitive before blow drying straight, creating a deep side part and twisting into a chignon. She finished by untucking a few pieces in the front and misting with Kérastase Double Force Controle Ultime Hairspray for hold.

“Half party girl, half soldier,” said Carole Colombani for MAC when asked to describe the inspiration behind the makeup look she created for the show. She used MAC Face & Body Foundation to achieve “beautiful bright skin, but not an over-made up complexion,” and pinched a blend of Copper Beach Pro Sculpting Cream (new for Fall 2012) and Ladyblush Cremeblend Blush high on the cheeks for flush. Lips were nude and brows were simply brushed. But the eyes were the stars of the look. Carole created a diffused effect by lining the waterline and between the lashes with Teddy Eye Kohl liner, then sweeping Mauveless Pro Longwear Eye Shadow (available fall 2012) over lids. A blend of Day Gleam and Deeply Dashing Pressed Pigments (also fall 2012) added sparkle meant to look “almost like she’s just cried, because it feels a bit watery.” The result? “The girls look a little bit tired but sexy and pretty,” Carole said.

On nails, manicurists from Haven Spa painted two coats of Essie’s beige-taupe Jazz topped with a single coat of shimmery lilac Main Squeeze for an iridescent neutral effect.
