Emoji Karl Lagerfeld Wants You to Get a Whiff of His New Fragrances

If you think Karl Lagerfeld is too busy designing for Chanel, Fendi and his eponymous fashion line to launch yet another project, you would be wrong. The perpetually sunglass-sporting designer is making a foray into fragrance by launching two new scents: Karl Lagerfeld Eau de Parfum for Women, described as an “elegant green floral” and Karl Lagerfeld Eau de Toilette for Men, inspired by an “aromatic fern.”
To promote the new fragrances, a Karl-themed emoji app is available for download on your phone. Ever wished you could express yourself via leather gloved hands throwing up peace signs and clinking champagne glasses? Need a blushing Choupette (that’s Karl’s white kitty, for the uninitiated) to convey just how smitten you are with the new fragrances? Now it’s all possible.
If “perfume is like fashion for the nose,” as Karl muses in a release for the scents, then emoji are like eaux de toilette for the phone, no? Signing a text with a Karl head might just be our generation’s equivalent of spritzing a love letter with Chanel No. 5.
