These Warm-Weather Scents Are No Lightweights Wendy Rodewald-Sulz
Seeing as exposed pedicure season has descended early this spring, we're beginning to think it's time to switch up our fragrances, too. Luckily, there’s a new crop of light-as-air scents ready for spritzing.
Eau de Toilette vs. Eau de Parfum Wendy Rodewald-Sulz
First, a quick primer. What makes these scents different from their original (often pricier) formats? It’s all in the concentration. While an eau de parfum may have 15 or 20 percent aromatic compounds diluted with alcohol and water, an eau de toilette will have a lower percentage, say 10 percent (actual percentages vary within categories). This means an eau de toilette will be less intense and have shorter longevity than its eau de parfum counterpart - and this lighter, fleeting quality happens to be perfect for spring and summer, when warmer body temperatures magnify scents. Now, onto the juices.
Burberry Body Mist Wendy Rodewald-Sulz
A limited-edition version of the original Burberry Body, this mist is light enough to spritz all over, and its alcohol-free formula can be sprayed directly on hair, too. Top notes of fresh green absinthe, peach and freesia give way a heart of rose absolute, iris and sandalwood, with woody cashmeran, vanilla, amber and musk at the base.
Perfect for: Sexing up a steamy summer night.

Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Capri Wendy Rodewald-Sulz
The Isle of Capri inspired this “solar oriental,” 2012’s limited-edition riff on the original Bronze Goddess (which also returns for its annual summer run). Top notes of cassis, mandarin and lemon leaves fade to reveal a jasmine sambac, muguet and peony middle. The scent finishes warm and sweet with base notes of vanilla, amberwood, patchouli and musk.
Perfect for: Savoring the memory of your latest beach jaunt as you count down the days until Friday.

Miss Dior Eau Fraîche Wendy Rodewald-Sulz
A "crisp" chypre featuring Calabrian bergamot, gardenia and patchouli, this eau de toilette is a lighter variation of the original Christian Dior fragrance.

Thierry Mugler Aqua Chic Collection Wendy Rodewald-Sulz
Thierry Mugler's two new Aqua Chic fragrances are created via a unique process that incorporates fragrant hydrosol waters in place of the traditional water/alcohol blend. In addition to this lighter formula, both new scents have fresh accords added to the original compositions. Cornflower water, pink peppercorn, Calabrian lemon essence and a patchouli-vanilla base give Angel Aqua Chic its character. Alien Aqua Chic features ginger water, verbena and freesia accord with an amber-wood base.
Perfect for: Expressing a bold personality without shouting over the crowd.
$85 each (1.7 oz or 2 oz) at bloomingdales.com.
L'Eau de Chloé Wendy Rodewald-Sulz
This green-tinted chypre rose EDT shows off the work of Michael Almairac, the same perfumer who created the label’s signature scent. Here, rose water, citrus and patchouli notes combine to evoke the airiness and sunlight of summer.
Perfect for: Frolicking in a sunlit, grassy field.
$65 (1.7 oz) or $85 (3.4 oz) at nordstrom.com.
