Lupita Nyong’o Shows Off a Fresh Way to Rock Colorful Eyeshadow
Last night’s CFDA awards brought out a number of jaw dropping looks, from Rihanna’s see-through stunner of a dress to Chris Kattan’s return as his late nineties SNL character, Mango. But what really got us all giddy inside was Lupita Nyong’o’s killer makeup, courtesy of her go-to makeup artist Nick Barose. Inspired by Princess Elizabeth of Toro, Barose played up Nyong’o’s eyes by adding a streak of metallic blue at her crease. Suddenly, our cobalt cat eye seems so tired and boring.
Barose shared details of the look on his Instagram account, urging us to switch up the way we wear vibrant eyeshadow.
“Try putting fun colors in the crease this summer,” he wrote. “It’s more fun that just wearing it on lids.”
To get the look, he used the shimmery blue shadow from the Lancôme ‘French Riviera - Azur Chic’ Eyeshadow Palette ($51) and “tons of mascara.” To really make the blue pop, he suggests applying it wet so “the shimmer comes out more dramatic.”
What do you think of this look? Would you rock blue shadow in your crease?
