Rihanna's Met Gala Nails Took Two Hours to Create! We've Got the How-To
If your beauty routine has ever made you late (um, guilty), you can probably relate to Rihanna's fashionably tardy Met Ball entrance earlier this week (though maybe less so to the case of "exhaustion" that brought her to the ER later that night - that's another story). The singer made headlines when she told reporters outside the museum, "The dressing part was easy. My nails took forever. They're like claws."
We had to know more about these epic talons, so we got the scoop from celebrity manicurist (and Beauty Blitz collaborator) Gina Eppolito, who created Rihanna's nail look. "They did take quite some time," Gina confirmed. "Approximately two hours with some breaks in between."
To create length, "I glued on long, curved nail tips to mid-natural nail," Gina explained in an email. "To achieve the 'stiletto' nail, do not cut - just file to desired oval/pointed shape. Lightly buff top of nail tip into the natural nail. Apply think layer of acrylic. I finished off with Red Carpet Manicure gel polish in Black Stretch Limo."
"It kind of brought me back to my roots when I would sit in my mom's basement for hours perfecting LONG nails with fabulous designs!" Gina said. More statement nails on the red carpet, please!
