The Graphic Manicure You Need for Spring
By Wendy Rodewald-Sulz / September 9, 2014
There’s a linear trend happening for nails on the Spring 2015 runways, and the new striped manicures couldn’t be easier to replicate.
At Chromat, black polish got the graphic treatment thanks to a vertical white stripe in the center of the nail.
Wes Gordon’s models were manicured with bisecting lines in a white crosshatch design. Rita Remark for Essie used a striping brush dipped in the brand’s Blanc white polish to create a pattern that mimicked the a linen weave.
Meanwhile, designer Ann Yee custom-designed cobalt and white striped Inni nail wraps to complement her architecturally themed collection.
And at Kate Spade, Deborah Lippmann used black striping tape over to create a skinny horizontal line across a bright white nail. Her tip for making white polish look perfect? Start with a base coat, and let the lacquer dry for two minutes between coats to prevent streaks.
