A Dry Shampoo That Actually Makes Hair Feel Clean
By Wendy Rodewald-Sulz / April 15, 2015
I work out every day, but if I washed my hair that often I’d be spending more quality time with my blow dryer than I do with my husband. So yes, my hair is sometimes dirty and greasy and smells. And since it’s no longer beanie-appropriate weather outside (hello, spring!), I have no plan B for days when my scalp is oilier than a used up blotting paper.
At least, that was the case until I recently found one of the best dry shampoos I’ve tried in my tenure as a lazy-about-hair-washing beauty editor. Argan oil-infused haircare brand Moroccanoil just launched their first ever foray into the category with not one, but two new dry shampoos. Dry Shampoo Light Tones ($26) has subtle violet undertones to counteract brassiness, while Dry Shampoo Dark Tones ($26) is designed to leave dark hair feeling clean and free of white residue.
It seems counterintuitive that a dry shampoo formula infused with argan oil would be able to soak up sebum on the scalp, but the rice powder-based spray works like a dream. While many dry shampoos leave second day hair feeling even dirtier, a few spritzes of this one leaves my roots feeling freshly washed, not sticky. The clean, slightly vanilla-y scent masks dirty hair odors, making my hair seem almost as pristine as if I’d shampooed in the shower — even when that’s far from the case.
