Two New Sea Salt Sprays for Mermaid Hair
By Wendy Rodewald-Sulz / March 23, 2015
Feeling overdue for some sun and surf? You could pretend you’re on spring break right now by downing a boozy piña colada with your breakfast, or you could go the arguably more responsible route and channel beachy vibes with your hairstyle.
Sea salt sprays have always been the easiest way to fake ocean-tousled waves in the absence of a tropical vacation, but most formulas tend to leave hair stiff and dried out — until now.
Bumble and Bumble has just introduced a remixed version of its iconic Surf Spray that won’t leave hair feeling parched. The new Surf Infusion ($29) is a bi-phase formula that incorporates softening tropical oils into the seawater-like spray. This makes it more moisturizing than the original, and even better for coarse or curly types. And it leaves your mermaid waves with a healthy sheen, unlike old school salt sprays that can make strands look dull.
Fekkai has a new product for ocean-inspired texture this season, too. The Soleil Beach Waves Spray ($19.99) creates waves that are tousled yet touchable, thanks to a sea salt formula enriched with nourishing sunflower seed oil. The spray manages to be super lightweight, so you won’t look like you washed up with yesterday’s driftwood. It also smells like a fancy salon, should you choose to imagine yourself more of a chic St. Barth’s siren than a sloppy spring breaker.
