NYFW Nail Art: Recreate the Oil Slick Mani from Rebecca Minkoff Fall 2013
Although the “Neil Armstrong going into space” look at Rebecca Minkoff Fall 2013 was beautiful, it didn’t really wow us until we saw the nails. The hair was a simple middle part and straight strands created by Jeanie Syfu for Tresemme, and the makeup was a pretty cobalt liner by Sarah Lucero for Stila. But when we saw the “oil slick” mani designed by Michelle Saunders for Essie, we almost gasped. To our surprise, the look is extremely easy to recreate. Here’s how:
It’s really as simple as plopping a few drops (3-4 max) of five different nail polish colors on the nail and using a thin paintbrush to swirl them all over the nail from the cuticle to the tip. Michelle used Essie polish in Aruba Blue, Go Overboard, Blue Rhapsody, Penny Talk and As Gold As It Gets. Seriously, that’s it. You can even create the design using five of your favorite colors.
