The fashion world lost one of its greatest designers last year, but Oscar de La Renta will never be forgotten. In February, designer Peter Copping showcased his debut collection for the fashion house, staying true to the de La Renta’s feminine aesthetic. Now, the late designer’s new fragrance is carrying out his legacy in the beauty world. Extraordinary is extra special because it is the last fragrance that de La Renta was involved in creating. His aesthetic is reflected in everything from the potion inside to the luxurious glass bottle. 

 

The name is taken from what was de La Renta’s favorite word to compliment a woman. Alex Bolen, chief executive officer of Oscar de la Renta, told WWD, “Oscar would come in in the morning and say the opera last night was ‘extraordinary.’ We thought it would be a good name for a fragrance.”

 

Inside the heavy, sculpted glass bottle is a blend of sparkling neroli, cherry blossom, peony, rose, vanilla orchid, blonde woods and amber resin notes. The floral juice evokes a modern, sensual personality that “captures the daring spirit of the contemporary Oscar de La Renta woman.” If there is one spring scent to get this season, it’s Extraordinary.
