Our Editors Share Their All Time Favorite Lipsticks Beauty Blitz
While we don’t always acknowledge National [insert random thing here] Day (they could be really silly sometimes), today’s holiday is something we’ll raise a lip-printed glass to. It’s National Lipstick Day, the one day a year where we remember all the bullets that have been there for every occasion, from first date and to girls' night out. Here, we pay homage to our absolute favorite, can’t-live-without hues.

For Special Occasions Beauty Blitz
“I rarely wear lipstick. My full lips — and tendency to talk a lot — already make enough of a statement. A saturated bright adds playful punctuation to any look. One swipe is truly transformative. It looks fierce on closed lips and playfully alive with a smile. I save it for special occasions, because the shade demands attention and requires beauty bravado." –Polly Blitzer, Beauty Blitz FounderNARS lipstick in Sciap, $26 at Neiman MarcusKeywordsLipstick -
Worth the Price Beauty Blitz
“While I probably wouldn’t spend $50 on a nail polish, I’d pay that price for a lipstick — but only one as luxurious as Lipstick Queen Velvet Rope. Not only does each of the shades in the the brand’s Old Hollywood-inspired collection come housed in a heavy golden case, the formula is unbelievably pigmented while still managing to be lightweight and soft on on lips. While most lipsticks with this kind of color payoff tend to crack and settle into lip lines after a few hours, I’ve worn this one all day without needing a touchup — pretty amazing. My go-to shade, Black Tie, is a deep red that lets me dip a toe in the dark lipstick trend without making me look like a vampire.” –Wendy Rodewald-Sulz, Editorial DirectorLipstick Queen Velvet Rope in Black Tie, $50 at Nordstrom

Universally Flattering Beauty Blitz
"Before I became a beauty editor, there was only one place I went to for a new lipstick: MAC. I’ve toyed with cult favorites like Ruby Woo, Heroine and Lady Danger, but nothing compares to So Chaud, the perfect red-orange. It flatters my skin tone all year long, whether I’m super pale in the winter or have a light tan in the summer, and works for day and night. The matte finish gives my look some edge and leaves a natural-looking stain on my pout after it wears off. Everyone has that go-to lipstick that requires zero thought, and So Chaud is mine." –Klaudia Tirico, Beauty EditorMAC Cosmetics Lipstick in So Chaud, $16 at Nordstrom

My Lips But Better Beauty Blitz
“My makeup collection consists of a lot of similar, natural, light pink lipsticks, but Urban Decay's Peroxide has always been the standout. A favorite despite its impractical packaging, Peroxide is my perfect MLBB (My Lips But Better) color. It also doesn't hurt that it smells like creme brulee. Sadly, my days of natural looking, dessert scented lips are numbered because Peroxide has been discontinued.” -Margaret Fisher, Editorial Intern
