Pat McGrath is an unstoppable force of nature. Her ability to paint face reigns supreme above all others, while her product expertise inspires many of the trends we spot on the runways and editorials. The makeup maven has played a huge role in curating makeup collections for brands like CoverGirl and Dolce & Gabbana, now McGrath has her own namesake product range to add to her resume. 

 

This week, McGrath launched her first-ever makeup product, Gold 001, during Paris Fashion Week. The launch event took place in the lovely Tuileries Garden, where famous faces like Hailey Baldwin, Bella Hadid and Stella Maxwell, as well as passerby, all waited patiently to get a taste of McGrath’s epic metallic powder for eyes, lips and skin. After all, this is one of the most highly anticipated beauty launches of 2015! 

 

Gold 001 will be part of a limited edition run of only 1,000 products and is said to be available on McGrath’s new website, patmcgrath.com, later this month. According to the artist, “Gold 001 is a one off revolutionary highly malleable formula – there is something magnificent about its pure form that leaves me breathless”. This finish of this luminous velvet powder is full of pigment and blinding sheen. Just one glance will have you starry-eyed.

At first, there was a huge mystery regarding what McGrath used on models’ lips at Prada’s spring show. According to a press release, the gold product was a "mysterious, high-impact, rich, metallic pigment." Sound familiar? The release also stated, “McGrath neither confirmed nor denied that the mysterious pigment was a creation of hers.” Now we know that the product in question was indeed Gold 001.

Turns out, Kim Kardashian West was one of the first to experience McGrath’s Gold 001. The makeup artist used the product to achieve Kardashian West’s epic transformation into Cleopatra for her Violet Grey editorial. 

Of course, Kim Kardashian West gets to have “midnight, secret makeup sessions” with McGrath. Here she is getting another taste of the gilded creation.
