Here’s Your First Look at Prabal Gurung for Sally Hansen Spring 2015
By Klaudia Tirico / September 8, 2014
Covering the backstage beauty prep at New York Fashion Week has its perks. We get to see all the models before they get glammed up by our favorite hairstylists, makeup artists and manicurists; check out the beauty trends before they debut on the runway; and get a sneak peek of beauty collaborations before they hit stores. Over the weekend, we hung out backstage at Prabal Gurung and got a first look at the designer’s new spring collection for Sally Hansen.
Gurung worked closely with the Sally Hansen brand to create three custom colors of the famous Complete Salon Manicure. While the designer is no stranger to creating a polish collection (this is Gurung’s ninth consecutive season working with the brand), he always brings something fresh and chic to the table. For spring 2015, he was inspired by two different ideas: the concept of a global traveler who treks through the Himalayas and the work of artist Tara Donovan who is known for her “organic yet technical installations.” The result is three perfect-for-spring shades – a bright turquoise, a coral and a soft purple.
All three hues made their runway debut at Gurung’s show this weekend. Nail guru Jin Soon Choi created a super simple tribal print (pictured) using the brush from Sally Hansen’s I Heart Nail Art Striper. Each model got a different hue, which Choi applied over a clear base. The look was the perfect complement to the array of bold prints in Gurung’s collection. Plus, we love the use of negative space!
The Prabal Gurung for Sally Hansen spring 2015 collection will hit stores in March.
