Two Runway-Approved Hair Accessories to DIY Now Klaudia Tirico
When we see a cool hair accessory on the runways, our first reaction isn’t to start setting aside a couple hundred bucks to buy it. Instead, we fire up our creative minds and go into DIY mode (obviously). So when we saw these gilded hair adornments on the Dolce & Gabbana and Rodarte runways, we made a beeline for the nearest craft store. You won’t believe how easy it is to score a runway-approved accessory on the cheap.

The Inspiration Klaudia Tirico
Dolce & Gabbana never disappoint in the hair accessory department. For spring 2014, models received multiple gold coin ornaments, from headbands to sparkly hair combs. We recreated the latter here.Photo: @Allure_Magazine via Instagram. -
What You’ll Need Klaudia Tirico
-e6000 Craft Adhesive, $7.99
-Scissors
-Large hair comb - we used a Goody Simple Styles Fountain Flip, $6.99
-One large circular pendant, medallion or coin, approximately 2 inches in width.
-Two smaller circular pendants, medallions or coins, approximately 1.5 inches in width.
-Approximately a dozen 1 cm gemstones, any color. The amount you'll need will depend on how large your biggest medallion is. For our 2-inch size, we used exactly 12 stones. (We found our pendants and gemstones at Toho Shoji NY.)

Step 1: Prepare Your Comb Klaudia Tirico
If you’re using the Goody comb, you’re going to have to remove the elastic. Simply cut it, pull it out and dispose.Photo by: Taylor Cox -
Step 2: Glue the Gemstones Klaudia Tirico
Use the glue to adhere the gemstones around the edge of the largest medallion, one by one.Photo by: Taylor Cox -
Step 3: Continue Gluing Gemstones Klaudia Tirico
Continue gluing stones all around the edge until the perimeter is covered in gems.Photo by: Taylor Cox -
Step 4: Glue Small Medallions Klaudia Tirico
Put the large medallion to the side and let it dry. Take the smaller medallions and attach them to the end of the comb.Photo by: Taylor Cox -
Step 5: Glue Large Medallion Klaudia Tirico
Take a short break to make sure the small medallions are secured to the comb. Once the glue is completely dry, glue the large medallion at the center of the comb (in between the two smaller medallions) and let it dry.Photo by: Taylor Cox -

The Inspiration Klaudia Tirico
Kristen Dunst may have Rodarte on speed dial whenever she needs a hair trinket, but we have a craft store just a few blocks away from our office. That’s just as good, right? Making these butterfly-adorned hair barrettes from fall 2014 is as easy as one, two, three.Photo by: Getty -
What You’ll Need Klaudia Tirico
-e6000 Craft Adhesive, $7.99-Two butterfly filigree per barrette. We used two different shapes and sizes from Toho Shoji NY.-Tweezers (optional)-Thin paint brush (optional)Photo by: Taylor Cox -
Step 1: Bend the Butterflies Klaudia Tirico
When we purchased the butterfly filigree, they were flat. So to get the 3D effect, gently bend the wings upward.Photo by: Taylor Cox -
Step 2: Glue First Butterfly Klaudia Tirico
Glue the smaller butterfly to the right end of the barrette. We used a thin paintbrush to apply a dot of e6000 right on without getting it on our fingers.Photo by: Taylor Cox -
Step 3: Glue Second Butterfly Klaudia Tirico
Repeat step two with the larger butterfly. This time, glue it to the left side of the barrette.

And there you have it. This is the easiest runway accessory DIY ever, no? We chose to use two thinner barrettes instead of one large one, but feel free to use any size you want!
