Everything We’ve Tried from This Korean Skin Care Line is Amazing
By Wendy Rodewald-Sulz / February 18, 2014
Beauty standards differ depending on where you are in the world, and so do the products that promise to make you prettier. In our Globetrotter series, we highlight our weirdest and most worthwhile finds from overseas.
We’ve never been to South Korea, but we can relate to its citizens’ collective complexion obsession — they practically invented BB creams and 14-step skincare routines, after all. So we have pretty lofty expectations when it comes to Korean beauty products. And every product we’ve tried so far from the Korea-based brand Skinfood has lived up to our high hopes.
The company incorporates good-for-skin foods like avocado, rice and tomato into its products, according to its slightly wonky-sounding brand story page (we can only assume “Skinfood welcomes trouble if it’s to make reliable products” sounds less ominous in the original Korean). And from what we’ve tried so far, we can say that the products are delicious as far as scent and texture go.
While Skinfood has a major presence across Asia, in the US there are only a handful of stores in California. If you live elsewhere in the States you’ll have to order from Amazon. Here are a few of our favorites from the line.
This cleanser manages to be both frothy and gentle on skin, and leaves our faces feeling super soft.
Silky doesn’t even begin to describe the unreal texture of this superfine micro-silica powder. A tiny bit goes a long way toward mattifying the skin and blurring imperfections.
This satiny, shine-fighting serum makes a perfect base for foundation, and it smells amazing, too.
Its soft shine and hint of pink make lips look naturally gorgeous.
