This NYFW Hair Trend is Bank Robber Chic

While the celebrities in the front row continue to show up bare-legged (despite this morning’s temperature of 4 degrees), flesh-toned pantyhose are having a bit of a moment on the runways this season.

 

First, at Kanye West’s Yeezy Season 1 show for Adidas Originals, models — and Kim! — were clad in full body stockings. Who needs a spray tan when you’ve got “flesh” tinted hose? Stockings also served as hair accessories for the models who wore them as caps.

 

 

Hood by Air designer Shayne Oliver was on a similar wavelength when it came to collaborating with the beauty team on a look for his models, who wore stockings over their faces. Hair stylist Amy Farid created “graphic” shapes using Bumble and bumble gel to go underneath the stockings, while makeup artist Inge Grognard drew eyebrows over the sheer material using MAC eye pencils. The final look was suitable only for disguising your face while committing a felony, but don’t be surprised if sheer stocking caps and headbands start showing up in editorials a few months from now.
