6 Ways to Bust Out of Your Summer Beauty Rut Klaudia Tirico
It’s almost August, and I don’t know about you, but I’m starting to get bored with all of my summer looks. There are only so many times we can wear blue winged liner and beachy, textured waves, right? Switching up your beauty routine is so much easier than buying a complete pre-fall wardrobe (although both are equally fun). If you’re like me and need a fresh twist on your go-to looks, try these quick fixes to keep you from getting a case of summertime sadness early.

Yellow Eyeliner Klaudia Tirico
Try it instead of blue liner.
You swapped out your black liner for blue in the beginning of the summer, but you’re slowly getting tired of your cobalt cat eye. For an updated eyeliner look that still screams summer, move along the color wheel like Elle Fanning, who rocked an insane yellow eyeliner look this week. If her version is a bit too bold, try Ardency Inn’s Modster Smooth Ride Supercharged Eyeliner in Cream. The buttery yellow hue is a more subtle take on Fanning’s almost-neon shade. Plus, the long-wear formula will still make a splash at the beach or pool.

Smoky Cat Eye Klaudia Tirico
Try it instead of a standard-issue smoky eye.
If a sultry smoky eye is a go-to for summer date nights, sex it up a bit by simply changing the shape. Selena Gomez recently stepped out wearing an edgy look that combines two of our favorite classics: a cat eye and smoky shadow. To get the look, follow the same guidelines of a standard smoky and clean up the edges into a triangle shape rather than a rounded one. We love the new Too Faced Cat Eyes Palette for its pretty mix of summer and fall hues.

Wide Brim Hat Klaudia Tirico
Try it instead of a headscarf.Don’t get me wrong; I love a good headscarf situation. But there are only so many ways to tie a scarf before you get really bored. With the not-so-humid weather NYC’s been having lately, it’s the perfect time to try a wide brim hat. It hides a bad hair day just as well as a scarf, but the wide brim also keeps your face in the shade and out of sun damage territory. Take a cue from Nicole Peltz and choose a light shade like this soft gray Free People option.Floppy Fedora Hat, $78 at Free PeoplePhoto by: Getty -
Braided Faux Undercut Klaudia Tirico
Try it instead of a side braid.Braids may not be going anywhere any time soon, but that doesn’t mean you have to stick with a simple, three-strand braid swept over your shoulder. The faux undercut braid à la Jessica Alba is perfect for just about any event you’ve got on your calendar for the rest of the season. To make life easier, rub Oscar Blandi’s Braid Paste in between your palms to get a better grip on your hair. It’s the perfect molding product to sculpt any style – braided or not.Oscar Blandi Pronto Braid Paste, $25 at Folica.comPhoto by: Getty -
Glossy Raspberry Lip Klaudia Tirico
Try it instead of coral lipstick. It’s time to put those juicy coral lippies in time out and bring in some ripe raspberry hues to your pout. Jennifer Lawrence gets it. While matte finishes are all the rage, we’re saving them for fall and opting for a little more shine – at least until after Labor Day weekend. The new Marc Jacobs Beauty Kiss Pop Lip Color Stick in Headliner is a great option for a bold lip that’s not your usual red. The honey-infused formula delivers a burst of color without drying out your lips, while silica makes the color transfer-resistant. Oh, and how can you say no to that adorable, crayon-like packaging?Marc Jacobs Beauty Kiss Pop Lip Color Stick in Headliner, $28 at SephoraPhoto by: Getty -
Glossy Loose Curls Klaudia Tirico
Try it instead of beach waves. It’s funny how we waited all winter long to douse our hair in surf spray and rock those beachy textured waves. Now the look feels a little played out. If you're over that dry, grungy feel on your hair, skip the salt spray and use a shine spray like Redken’s Shine Flash 02 Glistening Mist to get silky, illuminated waves like Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's. It’s the same cool-girl look without all the sodium.Redken Shine Flash 02, $18 at UltaPhoto by: Getty
