Cool Nails Made Easy: The Tweed-Effect Technique
By Margaret Fisher / December 1, 2014
Are you ready for the easiest nail art technique ever? If I've ever referred to something else as the absolute easiest, I take it back. This time it's for real.
All you need are a few polishes of your choice and…nothing else.
Start by painting all of your nails a solid color. I chose OPI Don't Mess With OPI, a kelly green cream. Then take another color and wipe off almost all of the polish from the brush before painting your nails.
Having barely any color on the brush creates a streaky effect, and when layered with multiple shades it makes for a distressed, textured look.
Now, repeat with different colors. The ones I used were Sally Hansen Hard To Get, Formula X Mr. Positivity, and Formula X Bond, Ionic Bond.
Try using polishes with different finishes to get more dimension and create a textile-inspired look. I find a few streaks of glitter makes all the difference.
I think you'll be hard pressed to find an easier design (especially one that's just as cool) but I'm all ears. But until you do, I'll be sporting this as my perfect textured tweed mani.
