What’s In My Bag: Margo Marrone, Founder of The Organic Pharmacy
By Klaudia Tirico / August 17, 2015
Twelve tubes of lipstick? Poetry scribbled on Sephora receipts? Keys to a Harley? You can tell a lot about a person by the contents of her bag. In our What’s in My Bag series, we ask beauty and style insiders to spill the contents of their purses in hopes of finding a few gems.
The Subject
Margo Marrone is a pharmacist-turned-beauty-entrepreneur whose passion for homeopathy led her to found The Organic Pharmacy. She opened her first brick and mortar store with her husband, Franco, in London in 2002 to bring homeopathic and herbal medicine and beauty to the masses. The Organic Pharmacy has grown to become a global brand, with shops in London, New York, Houston, Los Angeles and more. The brand covers all aspects of inner and outer beauty with products ranging from herbal creams and supplements, to organic makeup and skincare. Here’s what she carries around on a daily basis.
The Bag
“Louis Vuitton Speedy sequined bag [1] - I love sparkle and sequins, so when I saw this I knew it was my bag of dreams. [It has the] perfect amount of sparkle in black [and] everything fits into it including my laptop. It’s so durable."
What’s Inside
“The Organic Pharmacy Antioxidant Lip Balm [2] - Apart from keeping my lips soft on days when it’s low maintenance make up, it doubles up as lip gloss. I love the sheen it gives.
Organic Glam Lipstick in Nude [3] - It’s my go-to lipstick for every day. The nude color is so easy to wear and its beautiful ingredients mean when I apply it several times a day, I don't have to worry about what’s in it.
A Lifefactory glass water bottle [4] to which I add two slices of lemon and one slice of ginger. I love the fact that its BPA-free and has a protective silicone cover for easy traveling.
The Organic Pharmacy Rose Balm [5] - This is my all-purpose balm for skin, nails, hands, hair etc. It’s perfect to rehydrate any time.
I still love writing and taking notes, so the Smythson Dreams and Thoughts Notebook [6] is perfect to jot down all dreams, thoughts and meeting notes. And, of course, an old-fashioned fountain pen.
My iPhone [7], business cards (for years I kept forgetting them, so now I make sure I have a stack), and my lap top.”
The Quirky and Unexpected
“Raw chocolate coated goji berries [8] - I love goji berries and raw chocolate for a really nutritious and power-packed snack. I adore these, as they are free of refined sugar. They are perfect.”
