What’s In My Bag: The Makeup Mogul
By Beauty Blitz / November 13, 2014
Twelve tubes of lipstick? Poetry scribbled on Sephora receipts? Keys to a Harley? You can tell a lot about a person by the contents of her bag. In our What’s in My Bag series, we ask style insiders to spill the contents of their purses in hopes of finding a few gems.
The Subject
Sonia Kashuk needs no introduction. But in case you’ve been living under a rock, Kashuk is a makeup artist who launched her own beauty line for Target back in 1998 (she just celebrated her 15th anniversary with the retailer!). Her collection has allowed all women to score quality makeup and tools at an affordable price. The Sonia Kashuk Beauty for Target line has since expanded into body care and, judging by the looks of it, we don’t think she plans on stopping there.
The Bag
“My go-to bag year round is from this small atelier, Renard, in Paris I found years ago. No name, just beautiful structure and color. I’m not really a seasonal bag person, I’m much more into changing my makeup bag inside my purse every season. This fall, I am loving my block printed bags [1]!”
What’s Inside:
“In general, I don’t really carry a ton of product. I do my makeup in the morning and I’m fortunate enough to make great cosmetics, so it lasts throughout the day with minimal touch up needed. Usually, I pack one of my Hand Crèmes [2], my Lustrous Shine Lip Crayon in Sweet Pea [3], and my Undetectable Foundation Stick [4] — it’s super portable and can double as a concealer. I also keep a travel sized Oribe Supershine Crème [5] to tame my curly, kinky hair.”
“The item that is always in my bag is my Hermes calendar/date book [6] that I got as a gift 10 years ago! I’m still a girl with pen and paper — I haven’t quite fully committed to technology yet — therefore I keep a calendar for my life and a notebook for ideas. My Canon camera [7] — separate from my iPhone. Usually a book because I never know when I’ll be waiting around (right now I’m reading How Google Works [8]), a bottle of Advil [9], an extra pair of glasses (right now I am alternating between my Oliver Peoples aviators [10] and my Cutler & Gross sunglasses), and business cards.”
“My passport [11], an iPhone charger [12], a bottle of water, toothbrush and toothpaste. And if I’m going out for the night wearing false lashes I keep some lash glue [13] in there just in case — I always have this fear of seeing myself with my false lash hanging off or stuck over my eyebrow!”
